Cinnamon makes us think of whimsical Christmas fires, apple pies and cinnamon-sugar doughnuts.  This miracle product can be used in your beauty routine as a lip plumper, a face mask or to scrub dry skin.  Cinnamon may even have healing properties for diabetes patients.  Studies on cinnamon’s health benefits to reduce inflammation or provide antioxidant effects have been mixed, but the spice has been used for thousands of years in medicine.  Cinnamon is grown on Cinnamomic evergreen trees. Farmers first strip the outer layer of bark to get to the inner cinnamon bark.  They then lay the bar out to dry, naturally creating what is called cinnamon “quills”.  Those quills are then cut into sticks or crushed into powder.  Because of growing requirements of such large trees and forested areas, most of our cinnamon crop is imported from farmers.
