Candle Maintenance

Caution: Failure to follow instructions on burning candles could result in fire hazard or injury.  Keep wax free of matches, wick trimmings, or other flammable materials.  Keep wick centered & trimmed to 1/8" to ensure even burning and prevent flame from becoming too large.  Burn only on stable heat resistant surfaces for not more than 4 hours at a time.  Keep out of drafts.  Discontinue use when only 1/2" of wax remains in the bottom.  Do not move candle while burning or if wax is hot.  Keep out of reach of children and pets.  Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Candles have a memory!  The first time you burn your candle, make sure it has a full melt pool and the melted portion reaches the edges of the container.  This helps the wick and candle to "remember" to burn to the edges every time!  If you are unable to keep it burning long enough for this to happen - you're better off waiting until you can to ensure even melting and long lasting goodness.

We love the crackling sound and look of the wooden wicks used in our candles.  It is recommended that each time you relight your candle, you trim the wooden wick down to approximately 3/16" for maximum performance.  You can do this using scissors or another sharp tool.

By trimming the wick each time, you eliminate any ashy remnants falling to the wax, as well as reduce the amount of soot coming off of the candle when it is blown out.

Here is a video I did with some helpful hints for lighting your candle for the first time:

As with all candles, it is recommended that you burn candles no longer than 4 hours at a time for safety.  However, I have tested each of my candle containers and have safely burned them for much longer periods.
