Farmers markets are an integral part of the urban-farm linkage, allowing access to locally grown, farm fresh produce, and enabling small farmers to develop a relationship with customers. The number of markets in the United States has grown to more than 8,720 in recent years.

Community-supported agriculture (CSA) is a farming operation that allows individuals to  purchase a share of what the farmer produces. Consumers receive fresh, in-season produce and experience the true growing season. According to the USDA’s last census, there are 12,549 CSA’s in the US alone!

Agriculture in all of its’ forms is amazing.  Whether it’s a small grower producing for a smaller scale market, or the traditional crop farmer growing larger scale  to feed the world, each love the land and work hard to produce a safe, healthy product for consumers to enjoy. According to the Mayo Clinic, a recent study examined the past 50 years’ worth of scientific articles about the nutrient content of organic and conventional foods. It found that organically and conventionally produced foodstuffs are not significantly different in their nutrient content.
